Overview
Shane Morrissy is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies. His research explores subjective engagements with printed mass media in the broader political context of Progressive Era America. Shane holds an undergraduate degree in Art History from University College Dublin and an MPhil in Textual and Visual Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Prior to arriving at Duke, he worked as a researcher in the Education Department of the National Gallery of Ireland. Shane has presented his dissertation research at the annual conference of the Design History Society and the Yale Center for British Art. His academic writing has appeared in the Information Design Journal and his public scholarship has been published in The Ephemera Journal. His research has been supported by institutions including Harvard Art Museums, Princeton University, the Nasher Museum of Art, and the Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke. Shane is also Project Manager of Digital Public Buildings North Carolina at the Duke’s Digital Art History & Visual Culture Research Lab (DAHVCRL). His advisor is Dr. Paul Jaskot, Professor of Art, Art History & Visual Studies.
