Maroun El Houkayem is a Lebanese Ph.D. student in the Graduate Program in Religion. His research examines the lives of Syriac manuscripts. His work focuses on the social contexts in which Syriac manuscripts were produced and used in Early Christianity and on their role in the creation of the field of Syriac studies after their transfer to the West. He holds an MA in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies from University College London and a Licence
in History from the Sorbonne University.
