James Francis Demarest
Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology
Jim is the Director of Immunology Strategy overseeing the global immunology and diagnostics efforts for ViiV Healthcare (www.viivhealthcare.com).
He was most recently a Senior Chief Scientist in the GSK HIV Discovery Performance Unit with responsibilities for pre-clinical research surrounding novel host and immune-based targets related to HIV therapies. The previous 10 years at GSK/GlaxoWellcome he was involved in clinical-based research spanning Ph 1a through Ph 3b/4 of immune reconstitution, HIV vaccines, immune based therapies, and CCR5 antagonists.
Jim obtained his PhD from the George Washington University with research at the National Institutes of Health/NIAID. He did post-doctoral research at Duke University, where he is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
