At the Margins of Roman Higher Education: Students in Need. At the Margins: New Perspectives on the Ancient Mediterranean. 5th annual University of Florida Classics Graduate Student Symposium (UFCGS) . February 26, 2022
Invited Talk
Many of the traditional research trajectories in the field of Classics focus on limited perspectives that hinder a robust understanding of the societies that comprised the Ancient Mediterranean. To continue the conversation that frames the Ancient Mediterranean in a full context, we seek pioneering approaches to inquiries on the ancient world. Whose overlooked perspectives (non-canonical authors, marginalized ethnic or social groups, disenfranchised individuals, etc.) can illuminate less-explored aspects of the Greco-Roman world (and beyond)? How can our field(s) benefit from such perspectives? Selected proceedings completed via a double-blind peer review process will be published by the UF Smathers Libraries Press.
