Defining new optics with metamaterials

Metamaterials provide resources for the development of unconventional optical devices and the improvement of conventional ones. We review the methods of analyzing, constructing and characterizing metamaterials, and discuss their extension to infrared and visible wavelengths. © OSA 2012.
