High-frequency active metamaterials

We present a systematic numerical study of metamaterials integrated with gain media to achieve composite metamaterials at terahertz and infrared wavelength with reduced losses. The impact of spatial dispersion on the effective permeability resonance restoration is emphasized. © 2008 Optical Society of America.
