TRANSMISSION OF NOISE FROM A TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYER THROUGH A FLEXIBLE PLATE INTO A CLOSE CAVITY
Analysis of sound transmission through rectangular, elastic plate embedded in otherwise rigid surface, plate forming one wall of rectangular interior cavity; special effects studied are nonlinear plate stiffness and mutual interaction between plate and external or internal air flow. Method uses modal expansions for plate and cavity motions with solution effected in time, instead of frequency, domain. Numerical example; applicability to cabin wall and interior of aircraft, missile or submarine.
