Tunable plasmonic platform for giant fluorescence enhancement

© 2014 Optical Society of America. We demonstrate a colloidally synthesized plasmonic platform for giant fluorescence enhancement and increased spontaneous emission rate of embedded fluorophores. A transition between fluorescence enhancement and quenching is revealed depending on the plasmonic resonance.
