Photoluminescence from silicon dioxide photonic crystal cavities with embedded silicon nanocrystals

One dimensional nanobeam photonic crystal cavities are fabricated in silicon dioxide with silicon nanocrystals. Photoluminescence from 600 nm to 800 nm is coupled to the cavities with experimental quality factors of over 9,000. © 2010 Optical Society of America.
