Fractal sampling grids for holographic interconnections

The optical implementation of weighted interconnections is investigated and basic relationships are derived between the number of neurons, the number of connections and the size of the optical system that is used to perform the connections. Specific methods for selecting the positions of the neurons to achieve the maximum density of independent connections are presented. © 1989 SPIE.
