Adenocarcinoma masquerading as neurofibroma in a patient with von recklinghausen disease

Journal Article

Lung malignancies reported in association with neurofibromatosis are rare. We present a patient with history of neurofibromatosis and a lung mass. Transbronchial biopsy was consistent with neurofibroma of the lung. Because of high clinical suspicion for malignancy, the patient underwent an open lung biopsy which revealed adenocarcinoma of the lung. © 2007 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc.
