Congenital and acquired disorders of the vocal folds



© Springer Science+Business Media New York 2015. Congenital and acquired pediatric vocal fold disorders are remarkably different than in adults. The histopathologic structure and continuing maturation of a child’s larynx limit our current understanding of the principles and techniques of management of pediatric dysphonia. Commonly, interventions in neonates with disorders affecting the vocal folds are often deferred until later in life, unless presenting with critical airway obstruction.
