MODELING OF COLLISIONAL ENERGY TRANSFER IN OPTICALLY PUMPED FAR INFRARED LASERS.

Optically pumped far-infrared (OPFIR) lasers have been the subject of extensive theoretical and experimental investigations. The authors have used the results of a large experimental data set to appropriately select the degrees of freedom for a numerical simulation of OPFIR lasers. The tunability and sensitivity of this technique has allowed the probing of all states that participate in the lasing and insured that no important states were neglected.
