North Carolina State University (NCSU) recently completed a revision of its Environmental Sciences Academic Program and embedded environmental sciences across the university. Environmental sciences now include themes of energy, environment, and sustainability. The goal of the program revision was to develop an administrative structure, courses, and curricula that engaged all the academic departments. The success of the new program is seen in the popularity of the environmental science courses (with enrollment of more than 2,000 each semester) and the growing number of environmental science majors. We present this Program Profile as a case study to help others as they consider embedding academic programs that advance sustainability within their institutions. ©2013 by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.
