Function-Specific Perimetry

Although standard achromatic perimetry is still considered the gold standard for functional evaluation in glaucoma, function-specific perimetric tests may offer several advantages for early diagnosis of functional loss. Hardware and software upgrades have overcome several limitations of the first generations of these instruments, but prospective longitudinal studies are still necessary in order to provide guidelines for clinicians on how to best incorporate the results from these new instruments into clinical practice.
