Two Photon Dose Engines for Accurate and Fast Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy

Two photon dose computation engines based on pencil beam models were customized to meet the requirements of high conformity and fast computation for Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) plans. The first model is designed to run through first VMAT iteration steps as it has fast execution time but less accuracy. The second model is more accurate but requires more computations as it is designed to run over VMAT while it converges. Both engines are designed for prostate cancer radiation treatment but can be easily extended to other radiation treatment plans.
