Peripheral couplings in human skeletal muscle.

Journal Article (Journal Article)

The importance of peripheral couplings in muscle function has been uncertain because of the failure to demonstrate them in human skeletal muscle. This study has utilized ruthenium red staining to demonstrate peripheral couplings in human skeletal muscle biopsies. This finding supports the belief that the peripheral coupling is a basic component of striated muscle.
