Polarized crystal spectra of tris(0,0'-diethyldithiophosphato)iron(III)1 1 See Ref. [1].

The polarized spectra of Fe(dtp)3 (dtp- = O,O'-diethyldithiophosphate anion) in pure single crystals and in doped single crystals of In(dtp)3 have been measured in the region between 5 and 25 kK at 5, 80 and 300°K. Weak bands observed at 7.2, 14.0 and 19.2 kK have been assigned to d-d transitions with 4T1g (G), 4A1g + 4Eg (G) and 4T1g(P) excited state parentage, respectively, based on polarizations, band shape considerations and the results of a crystal field calculation. Intense charge transfer bands are observed at 16.7 and 20.1 kK. The best fit of the d-d bands gives Dq = 0.835 kK, r = 0.425 kK and G = 1.95 kK. © 1973.
