Determination of the neutron-neutron scattering length from incomplete neutron-deuteron breakup experiments

Journal Article

We present results of the first analysis of published proton spectra from the incomplete neutron-deuteron breakup reaction using a realistic nucleon-nucleon potential (Bonn B) in rigorous three-nucleon Faddeev calculations. Our results for the 1S0 neutron-neutron scattering length αnn are considerably less negative than values obtained from the same data in earlier analyses based on simplified nucleon-nucleon interactions. In contrast with the previous determinations, the present values for αnn are in clear disagreement with the result for αnn extracted from φ-d experiments. © 1993.
