Experiences in managing energy with ECOSystem

Energy consumption is a major systems-design challenge, and to meet such energy related problem, ECOSystem (Energy-Centric Operating System) prototype has been designed. OS-level energy management creates a need for accounting that track energy consumption throughout the system and a common unit currentcy is created. Currentcy quantifies the energy resources and represents it concretely within the system. Currentcy-based framework unifies energy-management efforts, across the system. The ECOSystem prototype implements the management framework and all necessary management, which it implement as separate modules is distributed across the system. The best result is obtained by using energy-centric schedulers for both the CPU and the network.
