Angular correlation between K and L x rays in tantalum

Angular correlations between K and L x rays in Ta obtained from the electron-capture decay of W181 were measured using two different experimental systems. High-resolution Si(Li) x-ray detectors were used to detect L x rays. K x rays were detected with a high-resolution Ge(Li) spectrometer in one experiment and a NaI(T1) crystal in the other experiment. The adopted values for the K1-Ll K1-L1+2, and K1-L cascades are A22=(243)×10-2, A22=(3.20.2)×10-2, and A22=(3.40.9)×10-2, respectively. The results for the K1-L cascade agree with theoretical predictions but the results for the K1-Ll and K1-L cascade are slightly lower than predicted. © 1975 The American Physical Society.
