The thrombin hypothesis: Challenge for the 1990s

A current limitation of thrombolytic therapy includes the finding that no more than 30% of victims of myocardial infarction achieve 'optimal' reperfusion. One challenge is to prove or disprove the thrombin hypothesis. Several large clinical trials are currently testing this hypothesis as well as its clinical implications among patients with thrombotic coronary syndromes.
