Five cases of scleredema in children are presented. Thirty-one additional pediatriccases are summarized, and a possible relationship to preceding streptococcal infection is emphasized. Fourteen of 36 cases reviewed showed evidence of a preceding streptococcal illness. In the 4 patients in whom biopsies were performed, the pathologic findings were similar and consistent with the diagnosis of scleredema. The literature is briefly reviewed and salient clinical and pathologic features are indicated which differentiate this self-limited apparently benign disease from scleroderma and dermatomyositis. © 1966 The C.
