Studies on the crystallization of the cro protein-pseudo OR 3 complex

Crystals of a complex of cro protein and a 17 base-pair DNA operator fragment have been grown by vapor diffusion and controlled evaporation methods. The former method, although successful, was accompanied by crystal clustering, excessive nucleation, and a sticky crystalline precipitate. The latter technique eliminated these crystallization flaws and resulted in large crystals suitable for diffraction studies. Details of the crystallization procedures are presented. © 1986.
