Effects of sample preparation on dilute acid-extractable ions were measured for paired unground field-fresh and ground air-dried soil samples taken from three depths at two sites in the coastal flatwoods of South Carolina. Ion releases from grinding and drying soils in the laboratory are related to soil organic matter and to field changes in soil moisture depletion. -from Authors
