Funeral mania in recurrent bipolar affective disorders: Reports of three cases

Anniversity reactions as precipitants of manic episodes are reported to be relatively common, while manic onset within a week of bereavement ('funeral mania') has been considered rare. Three cases of funeral mania are described to illustrate that this phenomenon may be more frequent than has been thought.
