Inverse solutions of ECG using propagation model: A 2-D cross-sectional model
An inverse solution for the site of origin of the electrocardiogram (ECG) using a propagation model was examined in a two-dimensional geometry using a propagation model. The model includes elements representing the body surface, cardiac conduction system, and ventricular muscle. The ECG on the body surface was calculated by selecting a true origin in the model heart, the origin of ectopic excitation. The site of origin was then found in an inverse calculation by computing the error between the ECG from numerous trial origins as compared to the true origin. The results demonstrate that in the model the origin of excitation was determined uniquely and accurately with this inverse solution within the resolution of order of centimeter with an error level of 50 μV between true and trial ECGs.
