Multiphoton amplification processes and quantum-path interferences in a coherently driven atomic vapor

The multiphoton gain features arising in the interaction of a drive and a probe field of arbitrary intensities with the D1 transition of an alkali-metal atom were theoretically studied. Theory was used to predict gain spectra for the situation of 39K. In addition, the effects of interference among different quantum pathways contributing to the observed resonance were clarified.
