Pump-beam-instability limits to Raman-gain-doublet "fast-light" pulse propagation

A study was performed on pump-beam-instability limits to Raman-gain-doublet 'fast-light' pulse propagation. It was shown that the instability was attributed to the combined effects of the cross modulation instability and stimulated Raman scattering. The results showed that the fast-light pulse advancement was limited to just a few percent of the pulse width using the pulse advancement technique.
