Theory of vector phase conjugation by two-photon-resonant degenerate four-wave mixing
A semiclassical theory of phase conjugation by two-photon-resonant degenerate four-wave mixing has been developed. The theory treats both the tensor nature of the interaction and the effects of saturation of the atomic system. An S → S two-photon transition has been considered, and the coupling strength for the generation of the conjugate wave has been calculated for arbitrary pump and probe beam polarizations and arbitrary pump intensities. Results for high and low intensities are shown and discussed.
