The management of postoperative pain has made incredible advances during the course of the last decade. A number of newer methods of pain control are available now for routine clinical use. In this chapter the scientific basis; clinical application; and possible side effects of patient-controlled analgesia, epidural, interpleural, and transdermal analgesia are examined.
