TMR - The medical record: Spanning the spectrum of patient care

Published

Journal Article

The Medical Record (TMR) is a comprehensive medical information system. Recently, it was decided to use TMR as the basis for a bedside computing pilot project on the surgical intensive care unit. The goal of the project is to replace the manual flow sheets used to capture data on the intensive care unit with a computer-based record. A demonstration in which the focus is on the interactive data capture and display features of the bedside application of TMR is presented. The functions required in this setting were contrasted with those required for less data intensive environments. Use of an integrated record across different types of care setting and extraction of the data for epidemiological queries were demonstrated.
