EVOLUTION OF A MINICOMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEM.
A discussion is presented of the evolution of a minicomputer information system, GEMISCH, from a single-user, tape-oriented computer to a multiuser, disk-oriented computer. Program generation as a result of applications, hardware or software problems, people-oriented problems and problems caused by going operational are discussed. GEMISCH currently supports over 30 applications areas with individual databases as large as 40,000 records.
