Repair of a chronic anterior tibial tendon rupture using allograft

Published

Journal Article

Current treatment of long-standing anterior tibialis tendon rupture with a large tendon defect is not well described. We present a technique for management of large tendon defects greater than 4 cm not otherwise amenable to currently described techniques of tendon repair. Allograft reconstruction is a viable alternative and functions well if the muscle has no evidence of fatty infiltration. This technique results in an anatomic repair without utilizing tendon transfer. © 2008 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc.
