Room temperature phosphorescence detection for paper electrophoresis (rtp-pe)

This paper reports for the first time room-temperature phosphorescence applied to paper electrophoresis (RTP-PE). Examples are illustrated for benzo[a]pyrene-r-7, t-8, 9, 10-tetrahydrotetro! (BPT) and pyrene which have been detected by RTP after separation using paper electrophoresis. These two compounds were well separated by a simple paper electrophoretic procedure and directly analyzed on the same filter paper substrate treated with a heavy-atom salt, thallium acetate. The heavy-atom treatment was used to increase the phosphorescence signal of BPT and pyrene. The detection limits after separation were 930 femtomoles and 990. © 1990, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
