Marrow transplantation for thalassaemia

Journal Article

A 16-month-old boy with thalassemia major was prepared with one dose of dimethyl busulphan, 5 mg/kg, and with cyclophosphamide, 50 mg/kg on 4 successive days, and given marrow from a 16-year-old HLA-identical normal sister. The graft was successful and the patient no longer has thalassaemia.
