Weak [Formula Presented] interaction

We calculate the leading contribution to the weak [Formula Presented] coupling in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory, including the SU(3) breaking terms arising at one loop. This coupling gives the leading one-boson exchange amplitude for the process [Formula Presented] and is an important component in understanding the decay of [Formula Presented] hypernuclei. We predict the [Formula Presented]-wave and [Formula Presented]-wave amplitudes to be found in the ranges [Formula Presented] and [Formula Presented], respectively. © 1998 The American Physical Society.
