Overview

Jillian Marcantonio is a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Religion. Her research interests include early Christian theology, hymnography, and late ancient reception of biblical women. She holds an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary and a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies and Spanish from Wheaton College (IL).

Jillian's dissertation investigates the Holy Spirit in the work of sixth-century liturgical poet, Romanos the Melodist. Combining literary analysis with performance studies, she examines how Romanos's hymns construct the theological imagination of the faithful in Constantinople.
