Porphyrenediynes: synthesis and cyclization of meso-enediynylporphyrins

Synthetic methodology to prepare porphyrinylethynyl enediynes has been developed. Compared to phenylethynyl derivatives, a bulky porphyrinic substituent on the alkyne significantly increases the thermal barrier toward Bergman cyclization and leads to multiple photolysis products. © 2006.
