The effect of intramuscular administration of 100, 000 I. U. of retinol daily for 13 days on plasma lipids of young rats has been studied. Significant elevations in the plasma total lipids, phospholipids and glycerides were noted in retinol treated rats as compared to control rats. Although significant elevations were noted in plasma phospholipids, the percentage distribution of plasma phospholipid components was unaffected in retinol treated rats as compared to control group. © 1968, Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.
