Kidney transplant patients are at an increased risk of developing cutaneous disease due to immunosuppression and medication side effects. In particular, this chapter will focus on the extremely important burden of higher rates of cutaneous malignancy in kidney transplant patients compared with normal patients. Guidelines exist for identifying high-risk patients for cutaneous malignancy, and these patients should be seen by a dermatologist, preferably with experience in treating organ transplant patients. Topics including the epidemiology, presentation, management, treatment, surveillance, and the possibility for pretransplant delays for skin cancers in kidney transplant patients are reviewed. Briefly, cutaneous side effects of transplant medications, benign cutaneous tumors, and infectious and inflammatory complications seen in kidney transplant patients are also discussed.
