In the emergence of a critical cinematographic vision of the urban transformations that Recife has experienced in recent years, a considerable number of filmmakers from Pernambuco have sought to elaborate the relationship between layers of past times in the contradictions of the current city, exploring the reminiscences of the patriarchal paradigm, the trope of the domestic servent and even the hauntings that resurfaces in Recife. Interested in the contribution that this cinematography offers to the study of the relationship between cinema and city, this research proposes to perform an archeology of verticalization from these images, understanding cinema as a spatial art that can fulfill an active role in the production of urban space.
