Appearances of grain in semi-solid slurry prepared by mechanical stirring

The morphology of grain in semi-solid slurry and its forming mechanism as well as 3D geometry shape were approached by means of a new self-developed rotating barrel rheomolding equipment with different processing parameters. It is found that the grain morphology in semi-solid slurry under continuous cooling condition is superior to that under constant temperature condition with the same shearing rate, where the grain possesses higher spheroidization and smaller and more uniform size. Three-dimensional morphology of standard grain in semi-solid slurry prepared by mechanical stirring is approximately spheroidal from preliminary research.
