Conventional and novel fabrication of magnesium matrix composites

In this paper, the fabrication methods of magnesium matrix composites were introduced and the new fabrication process was emphasized. The effects of the fabrication processes on the composition, structure and properties of the composites were analyzed. Developing new reinforcements and novel in-situ reaction synthesis, optimizing the fabrication process and preparing high performance composites on larger scale are main research keys to the magnesium matrix composites. © 2009, Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research.
