Ureteroscopy remains one of the fundamental skills in endourology and is the basis for numerous endoscopic procedures. A thorough understanding of ureteral anatomy is essential for successful and safe ureteroscopy. This chapter reviews the relevant ureteral anatomy, normal anatomical variations as well as surgically altered anatomy, common challenges that may be encountered, and congenital anomalies for endourologists performing ureteroscopy and other endoscopic procedures.
