One digital health: Promoting innovation in health information systems
One Health is an umbrella concept linking and unifying human and veterinary medical science and ecology. Health informatics and digital health encompass data, information, knowledge, wisdom, and systems pursuing the goal of continuously improving health prevention, care delivery, and wellness. One Digital Health's (ODH) ambition is to unify One Health and digital health perspectives by proposing a conceptual framework that looks at digital, health-related issues in an integrative way. ODH is an innovative approach allowing the different health-related communities to have a technological-based health system integrative map. Three examples of ODH that are relevant today and preludes to future health and environmental systems are provided. ODH comes with a novel opportunity to deal with the end-to-end process from the initial digital health service or tool ideation steps to up-to-date healthcare policy-making and digital transformation of health and care pathways, developing educational and citizen engagement strategies via the development of systems for innovative data acquisition, processing, and use.
