The solid-state structures of ((Me3SiCH2)2InCl (I) and (Me3SiCH2)InCl2 (II) have been determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Compound I crystallizes as a centrosymmetric dimer, [(Me3SiCh2)2InCl]2, whilst compound II crystallizes as an infinite polymer, [(Me3SiCH2)InCl2]∞. The geometry about each indium atom in II is trigonalbipyramidal. © 1994.
