In this study, near-wall velocity measurements were obtained to estimate wall shear stress in human left coronary arteries due to their small diameter and the limitations of conventional measurement techniques. A 3-dimensional particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) algorithm was employed to obtain a fullfield velocity vector map by using index of refraction matched fluid and neutrally buoyant particles. The flow field exhibited strong secondary flow components, including a helical flow spiraling down the daughter vessels. The near-wall shear was found to be higher on the flow of divider walls.
