OBJECTIVE: The objective of this article is to discuss the reasons that manuscripts fail to be published and to establish some principles for increasing the likelihood of publication. CONCLUSION: Many good manuscripts fail to be published because they violate a few simple rules for writing a superior journal article. This review presents 10 principles for increasing the likelihood of manuscript publication.
