Dimers of phospholes with syn or anti configuration at the bridging phosphorus react with Fe2(CO)9 to give complexes, R3PFe(CO)4, with complete retention of configuration. Contrary to a report in the literature, isomers of 9-phenylbicyclo[4.2.1]nonatriene also formed complexes with complete retention of configuration. © 1986.
